Baseball Recap: Shenandoah Valley Academy Comes Up Short

Shenandoah Valley Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-5 in the process. They lost 24-9 to the Blue Ridge Barons. On the bright side, the nine- run performance marked the Stars' highest-scoring contest to date.

As for Blue Ridge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-9. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

For Blue Ridge's part, they got a massive performance out of Charles Searby, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Searby has become a key player for the Barons: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Jason Byers was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

Looking ahead, Shenandoah Valley Academy will venture away from home to challenge Blue Ridge at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jays will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Stars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Blue Ridge, they will be playing at home against Hargrave Military Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12 runs per game on average), something the Barons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
