The Bunn Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. They fell just short of Southern Nash by a score of 52-50. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bunn in their matchups with the Firebirds: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the defeat, Bunn had strong showings from Domantea Cooke, who scored 17 points along with five steals and two blocks, and Jameir Strickland, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Cooke is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight.
Southern Nash's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from George Richardson, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Richardson posted two or more blocks. Jayden Hartsfield was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Bunn has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Southern Nash, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bunn is on the road again on Friday and plays the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Southern Nash, they will square off against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
