The Center Vikings will face off against the Creede Miners at 9:40 a.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Center had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were outmatched by Salida on the road and fell 71-10. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Center in their matchups with Salida: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Creede, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-44 loss to La Veta on Tuesday.
Despite the loss, Creede got a solid performance out of Will Roden, who shot 5-for-13 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 28 points and 10 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxson Fazio, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Center's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Creede, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-1.
Everything came up roses for Center against Creede in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 64-23 victory. Will Center repeat their success, or does Creede have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
