Baseball Recap: Caldwell Gets the Win

Caldwell came out on top against Rumson-Fair Haven on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Chiefs took their game against the Bulldogs 6-2. That's two games straight that the Chiefs have won by exactly four runs.

Caldwell got a great performance from Vin Brown as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.

On the hitting side, Dante Placenti was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Arvanites, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Caldwell is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Rumson-Fair Haven, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7-1.

Looking ahead, Caldwell will challenge Millburn at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Rumson-Fair Haven, they will take on Matawan Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
