Baseball Recap: Steven Uszynski Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Moapa Valley

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Boulder City had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They never let the Moapa Valley Pirates get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won four in a row.

Gavin Robinson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

Robinson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Steven Uszynski, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Boulder City's win bumped their record up to 19-12. As for Moapa Valley, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-11.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Boulder City will take on The Meadows School at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Moapa Valley, they will square off against Sports Leadership & Management at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulls have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
