Baseball Game Preview: River Mill Jaguars vs. Southern Wake Academy Lions

For the second straight game, River Mill will face off against Southern Wake Academy. A feisty cat fight will be fought as River Mill Jaguars face off against Southern Wake Academy Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (River Mill has three straight victories, Southern Wake Academy has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While River Mill didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over Southern Wake Academy on Friday. Considering the Jaguars have won four matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Aydan Smith and Harrison Saenz did most of the damage at the plate: Smith scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Saenz scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Smith a new career-high in RBI (three).

River Mill pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Southern Wake Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
