Taravella is 1-9 against Stoneman Douglas since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Trojans will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Taravella is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top against Western by a score of 9-4.
Bryson Plante looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on JC Martinez, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anthony Toizol, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Taravella always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western only posted an OBP of .323.
Meanwhile, Stoneman Douglas entered their tilt with Cypress Bay on Thursday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Lightning. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Stoneman Douglas also got a great performance from Daniel Tartaglia as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, Stoneman Douglas' victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gio Rojas, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Brody Gargiulo was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.
Stoneman Douglas' win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Taravella, their record now sits at 17-11.
Taravella couldn't quite finish off Stoneman Douglas in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
