South Lyon is 8-2 against the Captains since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The South Lyon Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Kettering Captains at 7:00 p.m. South Lyon is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
South Lyon scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 73-49 margin over Walled Lake Western. That looming 73-49 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for South Lyon yet this season.
Meanwhile, Kettering pushed their score all the way to 61 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Walled Lake Central. While losing is never fun, Kettering can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 488th, while the Vikings are ranked 42nd).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Hunter Jager, who scored six points along with two steals. It was the first time this season that he grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Nathan Bisnett, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
South Lyon's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Kettering, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
South Lyon was able to grind out a solid win over the Captains in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 66-57. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Bisnett, who scored 18 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will South Lyon still be able to contain Bisnett?
