If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Eastern. On Saturday they take on Cherry Hill East at 11:00 AM. Eastern will be hoping to build upon the 35-10 win they picked up against Cherry Hill East the last time they played.
Eastern couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. Last Friday, they came up short against Holy Spirit, falling 22-30. Eastern got a solid performance out of senior Andrew Heck, who passed for 199 yards and 2 touchdowns; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win.
Meanwhile, Cherry Hill East had to kick off their season with an away game, and unfortunately wound up with a long bus ride home. They fell to Triton 7-18.
Given their recent losses, both teams have a little extra motivation heading into this weekend. The Eastern defense got after the quarterback against Holy Spirit to the tune of 4 sacks, so Cherry Hill East's offensive line better have put in some good practice this past week in preparation for the match.
