After flying high against the North White Vikings last Thursday, the Twin Lakes Indians came back down to earth. The game between Twin Lakes and Valparaiso wasn't particularly close, with Twin Lakes falling 67-51. Twin Lakes has not had much luck with Valparaiso recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Several Indians players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Olivia Nickerson, who scored 21 points along with two steals. Nickerson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Addie Bowsman was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Leading Valparaiso to victory were Lillian Barnes and Becca Gerdt. Barnes scored 27 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds, while Gerdt dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gerdt has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Raegan O'halek, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Twin Lakes' loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 11-9. As for Valparaiso, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6.
Twin Lakes will be playing in front of their home fans against Logansport at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Logansport will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 356th, while Twin Lakes is ranked 122nd). As for Valparaiso, they will head out on the road to challenge Lake Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Lake Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Monday.
