The Roosevelt Academy Eagles had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were beaten by McLaughlin 50-12. Roosevelt Academy lost against McLaughlin in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 44-32 score last time.
Despite the loss, Roosevelt Academy saw an underclassman step up: Xavier Vazquez scored 10 points.
Roosevelt Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for McLaughlin, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roosevelt Academy will challenge Candlelight Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. McLaughlin will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Roosevelt Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 11th.
