Trinity extended their home winning streak to six games thanks to a huge performance from Avalynn Johnson. The Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Providence Grove 3-2 thanks in part to Johnson, who had 17 digs and three aces. She has been hot for a while, having also posted 14 or more assists the last 44 times she's played.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Trinity who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 18-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-7.
Thomasville better focus on containing Charlee Phillips and Katelyn Hill as the pair were huge in Trinity's win. Phillips had 15 digs and four assists, while Hill had ten digs and two assists. That's the most digs Hill has posted over her last six matches.
Trinity was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. They are 7-3 when they serve at least ten aces.
Thomasville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Trinity, their win bumped their record up to 9-10.
Thomasville might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Trinity when the teams last played two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Trinity's Hayli Cox, who had nine kills, six aces, and one block.
