Deep Run is 1-7 against Atlee since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Deep Run will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Mechanicsville, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. The Wildcats blew past the Mustangs 13-1 on Wednesday. Considering the Wildcats have won three contests by more than 11 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Hope Tate made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Gabby Chrapek was a standout: she scored four runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Brooke Black also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Deep Run always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mechanicsville only posted an OBP of .125.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Atlee). They never let Varina get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory on Monday. With that win, the Raiders brought their scoring average up to 8 runs per game.
Myka Beach looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Atlee got a massive performance out of Ava Carter, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Leah Austin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple.
The victory was the third in a row for Atlee, bringing their record up to 3-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Deep Run, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Deep Run has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Atlee struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Deep Run was able to grind out a solid win over Atlee when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
