The Pahrump Valley Trojans entered their tilt with the Palo Verde Panthers with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Pahrump Valley walked away with a 46-36 win over Palo Verde on Friday. The score was all tied up 16-16 at the break, but Pahrump Valley was the better team in the second half.
Leading Pahrump Valley to victory were Kailani Martinez and Paris Coleman. Martinez dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, while Coleman scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Martinez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Heaven Cooper, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and five assists.
Palo Verde's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reagan Nehls, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Tahira Lynch was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.
Palo Verde struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Pahrump Valley pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Pahrump Valley's win was their 14th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.36 points. As for Palo Verde, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pahrump Valley will face off against Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 11 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Palo Verde, they will head out on the road to face off against Shadow Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
