The Swansboro Pirates entered their tilt with the White Oak Vikings with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Swansboro enjoyed a cozy 65-47 win over White Oak on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Swansboro also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Jonah Holt was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. The game was his tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Nagler, who scored 17 points.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Derrick Benbow jr, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jamison Avila, who scored six points.
Swansboro pushed their record up to 10-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.0 points per game. As for White Oak, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
Swansboro's road trip will continue as they head out to face First Flight at 4:30 p.m. on January 6th. White Oak and East Carteret will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. East Carteret will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 301st, while White Oak is ranked 102nd).
