The Rocky Mountain Lutheran Eagles struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the Dawson School Mustangs had 800% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Rocky Mountain Lutheran was dealt a 53-13 defeat at the hands of Dawson School. While losing is never fun, Rocky Mountain Lutheran can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while Dawson School is ranked 78th).
Rocky Mountain Lutheran got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Judah Sternhagen and
Abraham Rivas, who each put up five points.
Blake Harris held things down on the boards with nine rebounds.
Dawson School was led to victory by Peter Ernst and Jackson Parker. Ernst scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 steals, while Parker scored 19 points along with 8 assists and 8 rebounds. The contest was Parker's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Tu, who scored 8 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Rocky Mountain Lutheran and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for Dawson School, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rocky Mountain Lutheran will take on KIPP Denver Collegiate at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dawson School, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Loveland Classical at 6:30 p.m. on December 11th. One thing working in Loveland Classical's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
