Carl Hines was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
