There's no place like home for Columbia Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They never let the Battle Ground Academy Wildcats get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Tuesday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by eight runs or more this season.

Gunner Skelton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Ayers, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Noah Gibson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Columbia Academy's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Battle Ground Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.

Coincidentally, Columbia Academy and Battle Ground Academy will both be playing Lewis County the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will host the Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Bulldogs will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
