It was a good run, but the Washington Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost to Carlmont on the road by a decisive 55-40 margin. While losing is never fun, Washington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 619th, while Carlmont is ranked 218th).
Washington's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonah Chiu, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Mayfield-Commer, who scored eight points.
Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Carlmont, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington will take on Mission at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Mission is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Carlmont, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Burlingame at 6:00 p.m.
