Even though the Martin L Olson Lynx have not done well against the Shishmaref Northern Lights recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Martin L Olson managed a 64-59 victory over Shishmaref. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Shishmaref saw an underclassman step up: Ivan Davis-Nayokpuk scored 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Fred Olanna, who scored 12 points.
The win got Martin L Olson back to even at 1-1. As for Shishmaref, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
Martin L Olson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Shishmaref will head out on the road to face off against Unalakleet at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.
