Even though the Meridian Mustangs have not done well against the Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Meridian enjoyed a cozy 47-29 victory over Bruning-Davenport/Shickley. The score was all tied up 20-20 at the break, but Meridian was the (much) better team in the second half.
Meridian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaala Stewart out in front who scored 13 points along with five steals. Stewart has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ana Dimas, who scored 13 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Meridian pushed their record up to 10-9 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Bruning-Davenport/Shickley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meridian will take on Silver Lake at TBD on Friday. As for Bruning-Davenport/Shickley, they and High Plains will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
