Basketball Recap: Fairbury Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Fairbury won the last time they faced Falls City and things went their way on Friday too. The Fairbury Jeffs enjoyed a cozy 48-32 win over the Falls City Tigers. Winning may never get old, but the Jeffs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Fairbury got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brodie Prellwitz out in front who went 5-for-12 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Korey Nippert, who posted ten points and five boards.

Fairbury smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Falls City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Paxton Armbruster went 6-for-11 to rack up 13 points and three steals. Armbruster also set a new season-high mark in shooting accuracy with 55%.

Fairbury's win bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Falls City, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-22.

Coming up, Fairbury will take on Conestoga at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Falls City, they will face off against Milford at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. Milford is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.8 points per game this season.
