D1 District 1 (8 Man) recap Oct. 3, 2012
Freeman's Austin Ruskamp rumbled for the longest rushing play in D1 District 1 (8 Man) this season in his game against Pawnee City last week. Ruskamp's team defeated the Indians as he sprinted for 62 yards on the play and finished with 266 in all.
Freeman extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Pawnee City, 53-34. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
The Falcons' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Isaac Frerichs threw for 97 and three touchdowns and Derek Veerhusen had 35 yards receiving. Ruskamp helped Freeman's passing attack out by catching one ball for 32 yards.
Freeman's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Falcons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Frerichs has thrown for 592 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Derek Zimmerman has 20 catches for 259 yards. Ruskamp leads the league in rushing with 666 yards.
The marquee game in D1 District 1 (8 Man) this week will be the clash between Freeman and Exeter-Milligan. The Falcons enters the contest ranked 17th in the state, while the Timberwolves ranks 20th.
Johnson-Brock took down Friend 62-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
