Milby has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Sharpstown Apollos at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
On Monday, Milby suffered a tough 48-24 loss at the hands of Heights. While losing is never fun, Milby can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1483rd, while Heights is ranked 675th).
Despite the defeat, Milby had strong showings from Kaylee Cerna, who scored four points, and Alanys Perez, who scored four points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Sharpstown, who are still winless after their seventh game. They were the victim of a tough 34-13 loss at the hands of Austin on Saturday. The matchup was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly Sharpstown struggled afterwards.
Milby has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Sharpstown, they bumped their record down to 0-7 with that loss, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Milby didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Sharpstown in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 25-20 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Milby since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
