Franklin Regional is a perfect 6-0 against Armstrong since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Panthers will host the River Hawks at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Franklin Regional took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Gateway 15-9. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Gators: they've now won four in a row.
Brady Yarabinitz was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Luke Williams was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Franklin Regional hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Armstrong owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They put the hurt on Valley with a sharp 7-0 win.
The result came thanks to Garrett Brumbaugh's shutout, as he gave up just six hits.
At the plate, Armstrong let Jacob Bowser and Chase Jablonski run wild. Bowser went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Jablonski went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Carson Delano, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Armstrong's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Franklin Regional, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Franklin Regional hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. However, it's not like Armstrong struggles in that department as they've averaged .348. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Franklin Regional beat Armstrong 6-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the River Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
