The Mullen Broncos fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Garden County Eagles on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to the Eagles. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Garden County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Wyland Lobner led the charge by scoring 16 points along with five rebounds. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Logan Levick, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and eight steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Mullen and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for Garden County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Mullen will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Brady at 2:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Garden County will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hemingford on January 4, 2024.
