Glens Falls hasn't had much luck against South Glens Falls recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Black Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
South Glens Falls will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Glens Falls extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday. The Black Bears' pitcher stepped up to hand Broadalbin-Perth a 10-0 shutout.
Isabella Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Fallyn Bennett, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Ella Carner, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Glens Falls kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Broadalbin-Perth only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, South Glens Falls gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Gloversville as they made off with a 21-3 win. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Like Glens Falls, South Glens Falls also got a great game from a two-way player: Vanessa Muller. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Muller was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Aubrey Hay was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Ava Kill was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Glens Falls' victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for South Glens Falls, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
Glens Falls couldn't quite finish off South Glens Falls in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Black Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
