Softball Recap: Timberlake Wins Going Away Against Orofino

Timberlake won the last time they faced Orofino and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Tigers put the hurt on the Maniacs with a sharp 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Shae Jones was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marissa Needs, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Sadie Green also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Timberlake and bumps their season record up to 11-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Orofino, they dropped their record down to 10-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Timberlake will challenge Bonners Ferry at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Tigers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Orofino, they will take on Kellogg at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Maniacs are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
