Basketball Recap: Avoyelles Charter Continues Home Dominance on Friday

If Jena wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Avoyelles Charter, they should've done a better job of containing Jalen Brown. The Avoyelles Charter Vikings strolled past the Jena Giants with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 63-44 thanks in part to Brown, who went 8 for 15 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven steals and six assists. His evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Armonii Benjamin, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points along with five boards and three steals. What's more, he also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.

Avoyelles Charter pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Jena, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.

Avoyelles Charter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-32 win against Pineville on the 6th. As for Jena, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Forest at 5:00 p.m. on January 21st.
