Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Notre Dame

Notre Dame had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the West Windsor-Plainsboro North Knights. That's two games straight that the Irish have won by exactly two runs.

Notre Dame got a great performance from Liam Krimmel as he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Krimmel has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Josh Guire and Tommy Swietek did most of the damage at the plate: Guire scored a run while going 3-for-3, while Swietek went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Notre Dame was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Notre Dame's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for West Windsor-Plainsboro North, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Notre Dame will head out to challenge Nottingham at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Windsor-Plainsboro North, they will take on West Windsor-Plainsboro South at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
