Woods Charter had won two straight games and Grant Richardson did his part to make it three on Wednesday. The Woods Charter Wolves put the hurt on the Clover Garden School Grizzlies with a sharp 63-40 victory thanks in part to Richardson, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.
The team also got some help courtesy of Alden Phelps, who posted eight points and five assists. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.
Clover Garden School's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Saunders, who went 5-for-7 on his way to 12 points. Brayden DeAlto was another key player, putting up four points in addition to five boards and four steals.
Woods Charter's win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Clover Garden School, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
Looking ahead, Woods Charter will face off against Southern Wake Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
