Softball Recap: Ironton Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Ironton won against James Monroe on Tuesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Fighting Tigers never let the New Hartford Spartans get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. Considering the Fighting Tigers have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Aubrey Ferguson was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Kenley Neal, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Ironton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Hartford only posted an OBP of .158.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Ironton, bringing their record up to 14-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for New Hartford, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Ironton will square off against West Deptford at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday. As for New Hartford, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jackson at 2:45 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Spartans have won five straight at home dating back to last season, while the Ironman/Ironladies won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
