The Marcellus Mustangs put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 61-54 win over Bishop Ludden. The score was all tied up 31-31 at the break, but Marcellus was the better team in the second half.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marcellus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Will Kershaw, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Kershaw scored 15 or more points. Tucker Burnett was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Marcellus' win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.8 points per game. As for Bishop Ludden, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marcellus will take on Solvay at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Solvay is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Bishop Ludden, they will head out on the road to face off against Rome Free Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
