The Pueblo South Colts are taking a road trip to face off against the Glenwood Springs Demons at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Pueblo South's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Glenwood Springs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Pueblo South took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Pueblo Centennial. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Colts' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Caeden Herrera made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on MJ Molina, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Israel Allen was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
Pueblo South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pueblo Centennial only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, Glenwood Springs came tearing into Friday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Devils.
Noah Smith was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Mazur, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.
Glenwood Springs' win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Pueblo South, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 15-8.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pueblo South has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Glenwood Springs struggles in that department as they've averaged .439. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
