Delaware Valley Classical will square off against Tome at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Delaware Valley Classical couldn't beat Harford Christian on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Titans took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Harford Christian. While the Titans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Harford Christian 4-0 in the first period.
Delaware Valley Classical saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Hauser, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another was Luke Humpton, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Tome never let their opponents score back in March. Everything went their way against ASPIRA Charter as they made off with a 21-0 victory. The Titans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Jayden Davies made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Blaine Pendergraft was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and two stolen bases. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Reggie White Jr was another key player, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Tome always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Delaware Valley Classical now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Tome, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Delaware Valley Classical has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tome struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Delaware Valley Classical was able to grind out a solid victory over Tome in their previous meeting back in March, winning 7-2. Will Delaware Valley Classical repeat their success, or does Tome has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
