Bozeman has gone a perfect 5-0 against Belgrade recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Hawks will face off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Bozeman is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 39 points per game this season.
Bozeman is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Montana's top teams: Gallatin, who was ranked 11th at the time (Bozeman was ranked 22nd). The Hawks fell 23-16 to the Raptors on Friday. The contest marked the Hawks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Van Shockley put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 88 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 174 yards on ten of 24 attempts. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last four times he's played.
Bozeman didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Evan Hughen and Walker Roodell. Bozeman got some further help from Lucas Garson: he picked up two sacks and made four total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Belgrade, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They enjoyed a cozy 44-25 win over Billings Senior on Friday. The Panthers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
One reason for the win was Belgrade's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Caleb Seaman got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Belgrade, racking up 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Wesley Ehret, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Belgrade's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Bozeman, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Bozeman has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 198.2 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Belgrade, though, as they've been averaging only 81.4 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Bozeman took their win against Belgrade in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 35-13 score. In that game, the Hawks amassed a halftime lead of 28-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
