Sunrise Mountain is 0-3 against The Meadows School since April of 2024 but things could change on Wednesday. The Miners will head out to square off against the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Sunrise Mountain has given up an average of 17 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Sunrise Mountain fell victim to Pahrump Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Trojans, falling 15-0. The Miners' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.
Meanwhile, The Meadows School made easy work of Canyon Springs on Thursday and carried off a 13-2 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by 11 runs or more this season.
Dylan Howard made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Howard was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played.
In other batting news, Tessa Rosenstein was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Leighton Bekhor was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
The Meadows School hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
The Meadows School pushed their record up to 9-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sunrise Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.
Sunrise Mountain might still be hurting after the 23-6 loss they got from The Meadows School when the teams last played on April 4th. Can the Miners avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
