The Norman Thomas Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the St. Joseph Regional Green Knights at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Rustin scored an imposing 62 points on Thursday, Norman Thomas still came out on top. Norman Thomas skirted past Rustin 64-62. The win made it back-to-back wins for Norman Thomas.
Jaden Hernandez was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Jason Guzman was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph Regional took care of business in their home opener on Thursday (and then some). They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat NV - Old Tappan 69-38 at home.
St. Joseph Regional's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jahmir Joseph led the charge by scoring 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Pacciarelli, who scored 15 points.
Norman Thomas' record now sits at 3-5. St. Joseph Regional's record now sits at 1-0.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Norman Thomas hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 55.6 points per game. However, it's not like St. Joseph Regional struggles in that department as they've been averaging 69 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Norman Thomas was taken down by St. Joseph Regional 78-36 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Norman Thomas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
