The Frisco Raccoons and the Richland Royals squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Frisco Raccoons had to settle for second. Frisco had to suffer through a rough 48-21 loss at the hands of Richland. While losing is never fun, Frisco can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Richland is ranked 119th).
Despite the loss, Frisco still got an impressive performance from Jackson Voris, who picked up 114 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Voris was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 68 yards.
Richland was led to victory by Drew Kates and Michael Turner. Kates threw for 256 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes, while Turner rushed for 195 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. Turner is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played. Deon Jones was in the mix too, providing Richland with two touchdowns.
Frisco are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-1 Lone Star and 10-1 Reedy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 90.9% over those games). As for Richland, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Frisco does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Richland will take on Barbers Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Barbers Hill is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
