Wakefield has gone a perfect 8-0 against Enloe recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wolverines will be playing at home against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Wakefield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
Wakefield is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Wake Forest just ended the team's 11-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 5-4. Surprisingly, this marked the Wolverines' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Brianna Riehle was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Brenna Colleran was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Enloe and Cardinal Gibbons meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Eagles fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 11-9. Like the Wolverines, the Eagles also had to let a streak go: they had won nine straight, but that streak is no more.
Madison Haga made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lilly Watson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Wakefield's defeat dropped their record down to 20-3. As for Enloe, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Wakefield has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .453. However, it's not like Enloe struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Wakefield's way against Enloe when the teams last played back in March, as Wakefield made off with a 10-2 win. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
