When it comes to explaining why Rider lost, one person who can't be blamed is Caiden Reed. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points along with six rebounds. That was a full 40.7% of Rider's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Rider struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Brewer racked up 15 assists.
Brewer was led to victory by Tyren Mitchell and Julian Perez. Mitchell scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and six assists, while Perez scored 20 points along with six assists and two steals. Jayvion Johnson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Rider has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Brewer, their victory was their 14th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-5.
Rider will take on Azle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 14 consecutive losses for Azle and three for Rider. As for Brewer, they will head out on the road to face off against Northwest at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 680th, while Brewer is ranked 65th).
