For the second straight game, Gladstone will face off against Molalla. The Gladiators will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Indians at 4:30 p.m. Gladstone is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Gladstone turned things around against Molalla on Monday. They walked away with a 13-8 victory over the Indians. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Gladiators considering their one-run performance the game before.
Gabriella Gunderson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Ashlynne Franssen was excellent, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Jayna Butler was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
Gladstone kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Gladstone's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Molalla, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-8 record.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Gladstone hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Molalla struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
