The Casa Grande Gauchos lost against the Petaluma Trojans back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Casa Grande received a tough blow as they fell 52-34 to Petaluma. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Casa Grande has scored all season.
Casa Grande's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Solomon Walters-Ortega, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds. Walters-Ortega also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Ryan Rice, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Casa Grande now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Petaluma, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Casa Grande will play host again and welcome Ukiah, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Ukiah focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Wednesday. Petaluma and Windsor will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Windsor will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 516th, while Petaluma is ranked 105th).
