The Washington Pam Pack's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 65-33 loss at the hands of SouthWest Edgecombe. While losing is never fun, Washington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 395th, while SouthWest Edgecombe is ranked 131st).
Despite the loss, Washington still got an impressive performance from Breanna Perry, who scored 16 points. That was a full 48.5% of Washington's points, marking the 13th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
SouthWest Edgecombe's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaliyah Whitehead, who scored 24 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Whitehead has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kd Collins, who scored 14 points along with nine assists and four steals.
Washington's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-12. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-3.
Washington will head out on the road to take on Ayden - Grifton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ayden - Grifton has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Tarboro at 4:30 p.m. on January 20th.
