Kennedy has gone a perfect 6-0 against Brooks recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Crusaders will welcome the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Saturday, Kennedy got the win against Waukegan by a conclusive 16-1. The victory continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.
Emma Jimenez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Sophia Holguin was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Jessica Monarrez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Kennedy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Brooks, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on Curie with a sharp 13-3 win on Monday.
Like Kennedy, Brooks also got a great game from a two-way player: Amaya Estrada. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Estrada was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Estrada is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least two every time she's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Jayla Tarr was incredible, firing off two home runs, three stolen bases, and four runs while going 4-for-4. Tarr is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Maria Garcia, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Brooks' victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Kennedy, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Kennedy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .566. However, it's not like Brooks struggles in that department as they've averaged .602. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Kennedy got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Brooks by a conclusive 14-4 score. Will the Crusaders repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
