The Warhill Lions will take on the Churchland Truckers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Warhill was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Tabb last Friday. The Lions put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 9-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won six in a row.
Skyler Wilson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Warhill let Payton Auerbach - GMU and Mallory Herspold run wild. Auerbach - GMU went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Herspold went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI. Those four hits gave Herspold a new career-high. Annabelle Hall was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run.
Warhill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tabb only posted a batting average of .217.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Churchland walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Patriots on Thursday.
Autumn Thompson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Thompson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Pharoah Doxie, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Victoria Farrow, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Churchland pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Warhill, their win bumped their record up to 15-5.
Warhill took their victory against Churchland when the teams last played back in June of 2021 by a conclusive 8-1 score. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Truckers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
