Monahans is 1-9 against the Indians since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Monahans Loboes will head out on the road to face off against the Seminole Indians at 7:45 p.m. One thing working in Monahans' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
Monahans pushed their score all the way to 80 last Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 81-80 to Greenwood. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (59), Monahans still had to take the loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Cheno Navarrette, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. He hasn't dropped below two steals for 15 straight games. Kyle Vanek was another key contributor, scoring 23 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Seminole's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Greenwood by a score of 55-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Seminole has suffered since December 8, 2023.
Monahans' defeat dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Seminole, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-10.
Monahans came up short against the Indians when the teams last played back in January, falling 61-55. Can Monahans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
