Sand Creek is on a six-game streak of home losses, and Mitchell a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Sand Creek Scorpions will look to defend their home field against the Mitchell Marauders at 3:30 p.m. Sand Creek has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Monday, Sand Creek didn't have quite enough to beat Pueblo Centennial and fell 16-15. Even if the Scorpions couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Kale Anderson and Hayden Garcia did some serious damage despite the final result: Anderson went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Garcia went 3-for-5 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. Sand Creek is 2-1 when Garcia posts two or more runs, but 2-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Braden Hunnanm, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Mitchell's offense. They came up short against Bennett on Monday, falling 18-0.
Mitchell saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Micah Ashley, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Mitchell's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Sand Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 4-16.
Mitchell's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sand Creek has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. It's a different story for Mitchell, though, as they've only averaged .352. Will they be able to contain Sand Creek's hitters?
Everything went Sand Creek's way against Mitchell in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Sand Creek made off with a 15-3 victory. Will the Scorpions repeat their success, or do the Marauders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
