The Red Lake Warriors couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by Kelliher/Northome 85-32 on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Red Lake in their matchups with Kelliher/Northome: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the defeat, Red Lake saw an underclassman step up: Audrianna Lussier scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhianna May, who scored 5 points along with 7 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Red Lake were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kelliher/Northome only pulled down 22.
Kelliher/Northome found their leader in underclassman Kate Thayer, who dropped a triple-double on 34 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 steals. Another player making a difference was Allison Lundin, who scored 12 points along with 3 steals.
Red Lake's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Kelliher/Northome, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Red Lake will head out on the road to face off against Laporte at 7:15 p.m. on December 14th. As for Kelliher/Northome, they will be playing at home against Blackduck at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
