Even though the Immaculate Mustangs have not done well against the Newtown Nighthawks recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Immaculate managed a 46-42 victory over Newtown. For Immaculate, this counts as revenge for the 37-35 loss Newtown walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Immaculate's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kendra Foy, who scored 17 points along with four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Miller, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Immaculate's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Newtown, their loss ended a 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Immaculate has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Stratford at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Stratford is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Newtown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Weston at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Weston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Newtown is ranked 16th).
